Keyboarding and Word Processing Class Overview
(This course is a prerequisite for Advanced Computer Skills courses)
This 18 week course will be broken down into two 9 week sections. Students will learn proper keyboarding technique while working on building their speed and accuracy. Those skills will then be applied as they are introduced to basic word processing skills and document formatting. During the second quarter, students will use online modules and classroom activities to take a look a Digital Literacy with a focus on Computer Basics, the Internet, and World Wide Web, along with Computer Security and Privacy and Productivity Programs.

KEYBOARDING SKILLSThis module is designed to teach basic keying skills, consisting of fluent manipulation of all alphabetic letters. This section is also designed to teach basic keying skills, consisting of fluent manipulation of all alphabetic letters. The Keyboarding module also is designed to increase keyboarding speed and accuracy when using the touch method.

WORD PROCESSING AND FORMATTINGModules is designed to teach the basic skills in word processing as well as document formatting rules for letters and tables in the business community.
Concepts: Formatting and Editing, Paragraph Formats, Letters, Tables. |
DIGITAL LITERACYThis module is web-based e-learning designed to teach basic computer concepts and skills in order to be successful with technology in everyday life. The module covers these topics: Computer Basics, Internet and the World Wide Web, Productivity Programs (software fundamentals), Computer Security and Privacy, and Digital Lifestyles.
